About Ben Martin.
Born in the late 70's, I grew up in midlands Ireland during the recessive 1980's ... not much has changed since! Cheap joke, I know. No pun intended on cheap either. Anyway, I began working in the area of Multimedia as a webmaster in Kilkenny, for Glanbia plc in September 1998. I spent 18 months there before moving onto bigger pastures in Dublin city where I worked as a senior web designer for Watermarque Ltd. I later moved on to Esat Fusion (now BT Ireland) as a web designer. I began as a freelance designer in 2001, and haven't really looked back.
In September of 2003, I returned to college in the Institute of Technology, Tralee and obtained an Honours Degree in Interactive Multimedia. After that I continued on to the University of Limerick where I successfully earned an Honours Masters of Science Degree in Interactive Media. During my college years, I did continue to work as a freelancer, with most of my work being based in Dublin city.
Over the past 11 years or so, I have worked with, and for, some of the largest companies in Ireland ... Logitech, Glanbia, O2, Texaco, AIB, Pioneer Investments, Design Partners, Anglo Irish Bank, An Post, Toyota, Javelin / Young & Rubicam, Budweiser, Midas Productions, A & L Goodbody, Postbank, Phantom FM, One Direct, The National Gallery of Ireland, amoung others.
That list contains quiet a few big names that may impress some, but the majority of my most interesting work has been for much smaller firms and organisations ... some of which are ClubHeadBangBang, Enthusia, PostPoint, Touring Ireland, Fizzy Thinking, MuchWantsMore, Landers Outdoor ... too many to mention really.
I've recently returned to the Institute of Technology, Tralee ... only this time as a lecturer of Multimedia. It is pretty time consuming, but I'm always itching to tackle something new and challenging.
About this website.
This site, Isometric Shadows, is basically a portfolio/creative outlet for me. This site has evoloved, over the years, into its current form ... originally starting out as an experimental platform for flash and actionscript projects. Now, though, because of a busy schedule over the past few years, the site is more a plaform for previous and current work by moi. Although I do plan to explore techniques in designing websites, building web applications and general website development. So keep an eye on the news section.
While it is intended to keep all the content on this website up to date, access to some of the projects may have been either restricted, or removed by the projects' repective copyright owners ... there is very little I can do about that! Such is life!
